California Department of Justice, 3900 Broadway, Sacramento Occulus, 1987 The light entering the "Oculus" remains inside the cylinder throughout the year, creating a vessel of light. On the equinox, light piercing the gap enters the cylinder, forming a straight line across the lower half of the interior throughout the day.
